Midwifery Services

As Emma Gould completes the final stages of her licensure in midwifery she is working to

care for clients and their families under the supervision and guidance of Leah Rhoades, CPM, LM.

Prenatal Care
Your prenatal journey begins with a comprehensive first visit where I get to know your health history, your hopes for this pregnancy, and any questions or concerns you're carrying. From there, I'll see you regularly throughout your pregnancy for visits that last 60-90 minutes, giving us time for thorough physical assessments alongside real conversation. Each visit includes monitoring of your health and your baby's growth and wellbeing, along with nutritional counseling, screening and lab work as needed, and education to help you feel informed and confident heading into birth. Visits are typically scheduled monthly through 28 weeks, biweekly through 36 weeks, and weekly thereafter until birth.

Home Birth
For families who envision welcoming their baby in the comfort and familiarity of their own home, I offer full-scope home birth midwifery care. This includes comprehensive prenatal visits, hands-on labor support, and attentive monitoring of you and your baby throughout labor and delivery. I work with you to create a birth plan built around individualized comfort measures, so your home birth reflects your specific needs and preferences. My care continues through the immediate postpartum period, with newborn assessments and support for you and your baby right where you feel most at ease.

Water Birth
Water birth offers many laboring people a sense of buoyancy, relaxation, and pain relief during labor and delivery. I provide birth pool setup guidance, continuous monitoring of you and your baby throughout the process, and hands-on support as you labor and birth in the water. Immersion in warm water can help ease the intensity of contractions, support relaxation between surges, and give you more freedom of movement to find positions that feel right for your body.

Hospital Birth

If you want holistic midwifery care while birthing at the hospital, this option is for you. You'll receive the same personalized prenatal and postpartum care I offer all clients, with the option for me to join you at the hospital in a doula support role — ideal if your pregnancy is higher-risk or you prefer hospital pain management. Prenatal care follows the same schedule I offer all clients: 60-90 minute visits, with partners, children, and other support people always welcome.

Postpartum care includes on-call support, physical assessments, and depression screenings, with optional newborn care including lactation support and weight checks up to 6 weeks.

Doula support at delivery, and newborn care is optional for an additional fee.

Postpartum & Newborn Care
The postpartum period is just as important as pregnancy and birth, and your care continues well beyond delivery day. Midwives are licensed to provide up to 6 weeks of postpartum and newborn care. Postpartum care begins within 24-48 hours after birth in a client's home, with follow-up appointments in office at one, two, four, and six weeks, and Emma remains on-call for all clients 24/7 until six weeks postpartum. Throughout this time, I will check on your physical recovery, support you through the emotional and physical transitions of early parenthood, and monitor your newborn's growth, feeding, and overall wellbeing. I am also here to support breastfeeding, answer questions as they come up, and help you feel confident and cared for as your family settles into this new chapter.
